Chapter 219: Let’s Work Hard Together
Chapter 219: Let’s Work Hard Together
"Don’t worry, I’m really fine. It’s just that the wound felt a little uncomfortable earlier, but it’ll be okay after a while. I won’t let you worry anymore in the future."
In fact, that old wound does indeed ache faintly.
Especially at the junction between the scales and the skin, there’s a constant dull, bloated sensation.
Seraphina immediately loosened her grip and looked him over from head to toe.
"Are you really okay? You’re not lying to me, right? Where exactly is your heart?"
Her hand had just left his shoulder but then worriedly rested back on it again.
Henry reached out and pointed to a spot below his lower abdomen, near where the scales and skin connect.
"It’s right here. All Merfolk have hearts here. This scale is the hardest, like a layer of armor, specially protecting the heart, usually it’s not injured."
This area, although strong in defense.
If subjected to strong penetration or continuous pressure, it can still cause discomfort.
Seeing that his complexion had improved quite a bit and he spoke with more energy.
Seraphina’s heart finally settled back down.
"Then rest for a while, don’t rush to leave, if anything feels wrong, tell me immediately."
Henry gently hummed in agreement, then lifted his eyes to look at the pool beside him.
"I want to get into the water for a while, I’ll recover faster there. You should go take care of Evan, I think he needs you more now."
Being away from water for a long time exacerbates physical exhaustion.
Especially after being injured, so he knew he had to get back to the water to recover as soon as possible.
At the same time, he knew that compared to his situation, Evan’s emotions were more unstable.
Seraphina followed his gaze.
Evan was sitting on the ground, his head buried in his knees, motionless.
"Alright, take your time to heal, call me if you need anything."
Henry turned and walked towards the reservoir, his figure slipping into the water.
Seraphina walked over and squatted down beside Evan.
Ripples spread on the surface of the water, with Henry fully submerged except for the parts above his shoulders.
On the shore, Seraphina was already close to Evan, kneeling on the damp, cold ground.
"Can I give you a hug?"
Seraphina could only slowly reach out her hand, gently patting his back.
She knew Evan’s heart was in turmoil, but he kept it bottled up, taking everything upon himself.
Inner struggle needs time to digest.
She wanted to console him but didn’t know where to start.
She planned to stand up and leave to give him some space alone.
Just as she was slowly standing up, intending to leave him alone, Evan suddenly reached out and grabbed her wrist.
Seraphina instantly stopped what she was doing and looked down at him.
Evan then buried his face into her neck, his arms tightly wrapped around her.
He had nothing now; the only thing he could hold onto was her.
"Am I particularly unlucky? Whoever gets close to me meets disaster, all the bad things revolve around me..."
Evan sat up straight.
"From now on, what I need to do is become stronger, so that I won’t let you fall into danger. I’ll protect you and move forward with you!"
Seraphina saw the determination in his eyes and knew he had come around, and she felt a weight lift off her heart. She nodded at him.
"Alright, let’s work hard together. Once everyone levels up, no matter what trouble comes, we won’t be afraid."
Evan released Seraphina and leaped to his feet, running quickly towards the water reservoir.
Henry had been watching from the side, leaning against the wall without saying a word.
It wasn’t until Evan approached the storeroom door that he finally spoke slowly.
"Have you figured it out?"
Henry asked, his voice low yet without oppressiveness.
Evan nodded vigorously, his breathing a bit hurried.
"How do I do it? Is there something special to pay attention to? I can’t make a mistake."
Henry reached out to check his physical condition.
"Just drop your blood at the place where the beast crystal should grow on your lower abdomen. The pearl inside the Sea Monster has already laid the groundwork for you, and now all that’s left is this drop of blood. The placement needs to be precise, and the amount of blood can’t be too much or too little."
Evan thanked Henry and turned towards the table in the storeroom.
There, Seraphina had already prepared a stone bowl, placed at the center of the wooden table.
Inside the bowl were a few drops of blood, the last portion of active blood extracted from Lorelei’s corpse not too long ago.
But the stone was too dry, soaking in most of it, leaving only a little bit clinging to the sides.
The air was filled with a faint rusty smell, and everyone held their breath.
Wyatt and Dylan were watching anxiously from the side.
Seraphina knelt beside him, her knees pressing against the edge of the carpet.
Her eyes were fixed on the stone bowl, her heart in turmoil.
If this drop of blood didn’t fall, it would be a big problem.
Lorelei’s body must have been dealt with by Claire by now.
Knowing her style, not even the bones would be left behind.
There wouldn’t be another chance to find blood!
Until the drop of blood steadily fell on Evan’s lower abdomen, everyone breathed a collective sigh of relief.
Oddly enough, that drop of blood looked like rain on dry soil, instantly absorbed.
Henry frowned and stared for a few seconds before nodding slightly.
It seemed there was hope for this, indeed!
Seraphina held Evan’s hand tightly, her palm a bit damp, but she didn’t let go.
Evan, surrounded by everyone, didn’t feel anything unusual, just a warm feeling in his belly.
At this moment, Henry, who had climbed out of the water without anyone noticing, spoke up.
"Why don’t you try transforming back into your original form?"
Seraphina was startled by Henry’s sudden suggestion.
She turned her head and realized the wound on Henry’s body had almost healed, leaving only a faint white scar.
Seeing he was alright, Seraphina felt a bit more at ease. Now, she only needed to resolve Evan’s matter.
"Let’s go, let’s try it outside."
The others immediately followed, understanding that this was not the time to disturb him.
She led the group out of the space into the woods outside.
The trees towered high, their branches interwoven, forming a natural canopy overhead.
Everyone kept a considerate distance from Evan, quietly waiting for him to proceed.
Evan hadn’t transformed in so long, even he was nervous.
His throat was dry, and his heartbeat kept speeding up.
Seraphina noticed his hesitant demeanor and softly said, "Don’t be afraid, I believe in you. Come on, try it once. I’m really curious to see what you look like!"
Evan nodded, taking a deep breath, closing his eyes, and trying to recall the feeling of transforming into beast form the first time.
The next moment, his body suddenly jerked, and a surge of heat exploded from his chest.
His limbs and bones felt as if they were being refilled, with soft white fur quickly sprouting on the back of his hands and ankles.
Seraphina, seeing this, knew it worked.
Her nose tingled, and her eyes immediately turned red.
From now on, Evan no longer had to hide.
Initially, when she heard about the Silver Mirage Fox, she thought it was just a pure white fox.
But after the transformation, Evan’s ear tips and the end of his tail surprisingly had a hint of pink.
No wonder they say foxes are born to be adored.
Aside from being beautiful, his fur was fluffy, making anyone want to immediately pounce and snuggle against it.
Realizing he could really transform, Evan spun around a few times in excitement.
His body gradually adapting to the stance of a beast.
He ran along the path through the forest, darting through bushes, leaping over streams.
After running to his heart’s content, he returned to Seraphina, panting.
He approached her, gently bumping his forehead against Seraphina’s, his voice trembling slightly.
"I can transform back into beast form now... Without you, I might have been stuck outside the light forever. Thank you..."
Seraphina smiled widely, reaching out to vigorously ruffle the fur on his head, hugging him tight as her face rubbed against him.
