Chapter 291: Knowing How to Be Romantic
Chapter 291: Knowing How to Be Romantic
"Yes, yes, can we take a picture together?"
The girl with the ponytail held up the camera, giggling as she spoke.
Having encountered the sweet couple her grandmother always talked about, she couldn’t miss this great opportunity.
"Yes, yes, grandma and grandpa, can we take a photo together?"
The short-haired girl also looked at Holly Sawyer and Leo Grant with an expectant gaze.
"Sure."
Holly nodded in agreement.
It’s just taking a photo, not a big deal.
The girl with the ponytail asked a passerby to help take the picture, and soon the group photo of four was ready.
"Grandpa and grandma, we wish you a long and healthy life."
The two young girls said to Holly and Leo before leaving.
There truly aren’t many couples whose relationships can endure so well.
From their twenties to their seventies, a lot of time had passed in between. While the years could wear down many things, the love between Leo and Holly remained constant.
Their relationship was as good as it was at the start, a love that many people would envy.
"Old man, I want to go eat steak."
A western restaurant really is quite a romantic place.
With soft music, steak, red wine, lights, and roses, every detail exudes romance.
Westerners admire romance, it’s in their bones, so those western restaurants naturally exude romance too.
Champagne, roses, and red wine really go well together.
"Sure, since my dear wife wants to eat, I must accompany her."
Leo held Holly’s hand as they shuffled towards the direction of the western restaurant.
"Time flies so fast, in the blink of an eye, fifty years have passed."
It was late, the streetlights were bright, and Holly looked up at the sky, sighing.
Time indeed flies quickly; just in the blink of an eye, they had gone from youthful to gray-haired, no longer resembling their young selves.
"Yes, it’s truly been a blessing to spend so much time with you."
Leo responded.
With Holly, every day felt like being soaked in sweet preserves, very sweet indeed.
The restaurant was filled with young people; the entrance of Leo and Holly, two elderly people past their prime, stood out particularly.
Curious eyes landed on them.
They ordered steak and red wine and then quietly sat at their table chatting.
Talking about everything under the sun.
"You two have such a great relationship and understand romance."
The waiter, who was serving the steak and wine, remarked appreciatively.
He had worked at the western restaurant for many years, and those who came to eat steak were basically young couples, elderly couples like Leo and Holly were rare.
The older generation advocated frugality and did not have such a sense of romance.
"Here you go, it’s cut."
Leo pushed the sliced steak in front of Holly, just as he always did.
"Feels a bit tough."
Holly took a bite of the steak and said slowly.
"Oh well, getting old, teeth aren’t as good."
She inadvertently sighed again.
It wasn’t the steak, but her teeth.
As one reaches middle and old age, physical issues truly start to increase.
"What’s happening over there?"
On the other side of the restaurant, an argument suddenly broke out, and the noise was quite loud.
"Ignore it, let’s just enjoy our meal."
Leo glanced over and then said.
There was no need to meddle; in their younger days maybe, but now it wasn’t worth it.
Getting old, one shouldn’t meddle, bones are too old for that.
They quietly finished their steak and then left the restaurant.
The evening wind was a bit cool, Leo took off his jacket and draped it over Holly’s shoulders, holding her close by the shoulder.
"In just a week it’ll be Spring Festival, let’s go back and visit."
Holly gazed at the sky and said softly.
Leo nodded, "Alright."
"I vividly remember the first Spring Festival we celebrated together."
As they strolled along the street, Holly said gently.
They had celebrated many more Spring Festivals together since then. Holly hadn’t forgotten, just couldn’t remember them clearly, except that very first Spring Festival together was etched in her mind.
"Back then we were so young."
"Unknowingly, so many years have passed, our daughter grew up, and her children grew up too."
Leo looked at Holly lovingly as he replied.
Yes, they were in the prime of their youth then, it was the best age.
Jenna Grant married late, wed at twenty-seven, and had children after turning twenty-eight.
They were a pair of boy-girl twins, probably due to her husband’s genes, as he was the elder of a pair of twins.
Jenna’s children were only about nineteen years old now, still young.
Without realizing it, they were almost at the point of having great-grandchildren, time truly flew by.
"Yes, maybe our grandchildren won’t even recognize their grandparents."
Holly joked half-seriously, although they occasionally chatted or video-called, the chances to meet were regrettably few.
"Nonsense, my dear wife is so beautiful, she’s memorable at a glance."
Leo gently ruffled Holly’s hair, speaking softly, his eyes full of affection.
"It’s only in your eyes that I’m still beautiful, to others I’m just an old crone."
Holly chuckled softly and said.
When you love someone, regardless of how they change, whether filled with youthful collagen or marked with age spots, they look just as beautifully.
Because of love, they look good.
"We’ll surely live to a ripe old age, becoming old grandpas and grandmas."
Leo said, his voice extremely tender.
If he could, he wished he and Holly could live on, so they could be together for a very long time.
"Okay, let’s pinky promise that it won’t change for a hundred years, and if it changes, we’ll be turtle eggs."
Holly extended her pinky finger to interlock with Leo’s, making a childish promise together.
The two white-haired elders acted like children, evoking laughter.
"So, we have agreed then."
Leo lowered his head and kissed Holly’s forehead.
"Indeed, we have agreed."
"Old man, should we set off fireworks during the New Year?"
"Sure."
"Old man, should we watch the sunrise tomorrow morning?"
"Sure."
"Old man, should we book an afternoon flight then?"
"Sure."
"Old man..."
"Sure."
As one spoke and the other replied, their figures soon disappeared into the bustling street.
Passersby, observing this, expressed their admiration for the couple’s deep affection.
