Chapter 360 - 132: Fourth Brother, You’re Really Hacking
Granny was relieved that An Qi was threatening Jing Si and his wife with suicide. If she’d run to her with the same threat, it would have been another headache.
"You know what An Qi is like, don’t you? The more she can’t have something, the more obsessed she becomes. Once she gets it, she’ll cast it aside like a worn-out shoe." Grandpa paused, then continued, "I have no doubt that if An Qi married Qin Xiang, they’d divorce within a few months. They wouldn’t even have to get married. As soon as Qin Xiang agrees to date her, she’ll dump him in a few days."
"Old man, how can you say that about An Qi? She’s still your granddaughter, after all." Granny was a little upset. Her favoritism toward An Qi was partly due to being threatened by her, but since she’d watched An Qi grow up, there was still some genuine affection there.
"Hasn’t she toyed with and abandoned enough people?" Grandpa asked.
Granny fell silent. It was true, there had been quite a few.
"What do we do now?" Grandpa asked. An Qi was still in the kitchen threatening Jing Si and his wife with suicide. They were only staying at their eldest son’s house for a month, and he just wanted some peace and quiet. He didn’t want to cause trouble for his son, but they always seemed to bring plenty of it.
"Leave it. Let Jing Si handle it," Granny said callously.
Grandpa didn’t say anything. They were truly powerless to help with this matter. Qin Xiang was Jing Si’s wife’s younger brother, and his attitude was firm. Even Jing Si didn’t listen to them, let alone Qin Xiang.
"I’m going to bolt the door," Granny said, getting up and walking to the entrance.
Grandpa rolled his eyes. ’If An Qi really came looking for them, could they just not answer the door when she knocked?’
"Tell me," Grandpa asked, "if An Qi threatened you with suicide for the house the machinery factory allocated to our second son, would you give in?"
Granny’s hand paused on the lock. Her world-weary gaze sharpened as she said firmly, "No."
"You really wouldn’t give in?" Grandpa asked.
Granny sneered. "I wouldn’t give in, and that girl An Qi wouldn’t threaten me with suicide over it. I’ve made it very clear that the house is for An Lin. An Qi isn’t stupid. An Lin is my bottom line, and she would never dare to cross it."
Grandpa fell silent. Thinking back on everything An Qi had demanded from them over the years, she had never touched An Lin’s interests.
This time, it involved An Lin’s interests. Grandpa was highly suspicious. Was An Qi really interested in Qin Xiang, or was it the house the machinery factory had allocated to their second son?
If she was only interested in Qin Xiang, that would be one thing. But if it was about the house, then An Qi’s intentions were far from pure. She was using Qin Xiang to manipulate Jing Si into getting what she wanted.
Their other grandchildren wouldn’t dare ask them about the house, but Jing Si would. If they refused, Jing Si would convince his eldest brother’s wife, who would then convince his eldest brother, to make their second son’s family move back into their own house.
’My God! What An Qi is really after is the eldest son’s house.’
At this thought, Grandpa didn’t dare to think any further. The human heart could be truly terrifying, especially someone like An Qi. The more he considered it, the more horrifying it became.
"Pah!" Qin Mei spat crudely in Jie Anqi’s direction. "Jie Anqi, don’t you think what you’re saying is ridiculous? How did my little brother provoke you? Why should he be responsible for you? My little brother has never even touched your finger. What is he supposed to be responsible for?"
"He just did! He may not have touched my finger, but he touched my heart," Jie Anqi insisted, refusing to back down.
Qin Mei was speechless at Jie Anqi’s logic.
"He went on a blind date with me, I took a liking to him, so he has to..."
"When did my little brother ever go on a blind date with you?" Qin Mei cut Jie Anqi off.
"Granny arranged it, and he came," Jie Anqi said, ignoring the two bleeding cuts on her wrist as she raised her hand to point at Qin Mei.
"Did Granny arrange a blind date dinner? It was clearly a welcome-home dinner for my little brother." Qin Mei glanced at Jie Anqi’s wrist. ’The cuts weren’t very deep. Looks like she has a lot of experience with this; she controlled the force perfectly.’
"What welcome-home dinner? Granny clearly said it was a blind date," Jie Anqi insisted.
Qin Mei sneered. "If it were a blind date dinner, my little brother wouldn’t have attended."
"But your little brother did come," Jie Anqi said.
Qin Mei felt the frustration of trying to reason with a brick wall. She raised a hand to rub her temples, then looked at Jie Jingchen. He was still holding the kitchen knife out to An Qi. After a moment’s hesitation, she said, "I can’t get through to her. You deal with it."
"If you can’t get through, then don’t." Jie Jingchen’s face was chillingly cold as he stared at Jie Anqi, his eyes filled with contempt. "Are you going to cut or not? If you won’t, I will."
"AH!" Jie Anqi shrieked. Seeing Jie Jingchen swing the knife, she was terrified. She dropped the shard and scrambled out of the kitchen, screaming, "Help! Fourth Brother is trying to kill me! Granny, Grandpa, save me! Fourth Brother is going to kill me!"
