Chapter 938 35: A Date (Part 2)
Chapter 938 35: A Date (Part 2)
Lia Aiken couldn't help but laugh.
"I really picked up a treasure."
So many girls have secret crushes on him, pursue him, and there are so many people who try to curry favor with him, yet he can still keep himself clean in body and mind. Yes, it's really not easy.
"I like to be loyal."
Ivan Horne said deeply.
From a young age, he saw the affection of his parents, and even his uncles and aunts had deep feelings and were loving. They wouldn't cheat like his grandfather. Influenced by his elders, Ivan Horne demands loyalty in relationships, not only wanting to be loyal himself but also expecting loyalty from his partner.
"Coincidentally, I also like to be loyal, it's just..." Lia suddenly thought of her parents.
In her lingering childhood memories, her parents seemed to be in love. At least her father really treated her mother well, almost obediently because he once loved her mother deeply, treating her as a treasure in his palm. Yet, after her mother's death, his attitude towards her changed dramatically, leaving her puzzled. For more than a decade, that question has haunted her.
Now, her mother has been dead for nineteen years, but her father's hatred for her mother is still shockingly deep. The once loving couple turned faces just like that, making Lia bear some fear about love.
Ivan Horne seemed to grasp her thoughts and seriously said, "Lia, true love isn't just words. As long as you give me a chance, you have a lifetime to prove what I said."
Even if she doesn't give him a chance, he won't give up.
Lia smiled but didn't respond.
At this moment, Ivan Horne's phone rang. It was Jimmy Horne calling.
Ivan Horne didn't answer immediately. He waited until he reached the vicinity of the Gourmet Street where he wanted to go, found a parking spot, stopped the car, and called his cousin back.
Lia didn't know who Ivan Horne was talking to; she quietly stood by the car, waiting for him.
After more than ten minutes, Ivan Horne returned to her side, looking calm. He took one of her hands in his warm, thick palm, and an electric current seemed to pass through. Lia trembled slightly, but quickly got used to such contact.
"Let's go, I'll take you around Gourmet Street. I've heard there are many delicious snacks there. You can find tasty snacks from all over the country on that street, and the flavors are quite authentic."
Ivan Horne had never visited such a Gourmet Street before.
His meals were either at home or in a Five-Star Hotel.
Lia laughed, "Luckily, I didn't eat too much from my senior, now my stomach is still empty."
"Eat whatever you like, it's my treat."
"Don't worry, I won't be polite with you."
Ivan Horne's tone was indulgent, "If you're polite with me, I wouldn't want to take you to eat."
Lia looked at him, and he looked at her. They both saw emotions in each other's eyes, with Ivan's eyes showing it more.
This Gourmet Street in T City indeed has more culinary snacks than the one in G City, and from the moment they walked into the street, they were stimulated by various aromas.
The street had a huge crowd; people coming and going, and since it was nighttime, or perhaps the food was more attractive than people, Ivan Horne took Lia from the beginning to the end of the street without drawing much attention.
Lia was almost full.
But she was still unsatisfied.
Ivan Horne feared she would overeat, so he forcefully led her away.
"I haven't finished eating one street yet." Lia spoke with reluctance as Ivan Horne led her away.
Ivan Horne chuckled and said, "Since you like it, I'll bring you here to eat whenever we have time."
Lia's eyes lit up, not only because the food attracted her, but also because Ivan Horne wholly put down his status and accompanied her to eat along the way.
"Mr. Horne?"
A voice filled with disbelief suddenly pierced the pair's eardrums.
Lia didn't know who called Ivan Horne, but Ivan did know.
Grace Chandler would rather believe that she was seeing things than accept what she was witnessing.
Ivan Horne smiled warmly like spring breeze, still holding that girl's hand tightly, as if fearing that if let go, she would fly away.
Knowing Ivan Horne for so many years and secretly having a crush on him for years, although she never dared to confess, Grace Chandler had tried countless efforts overtly and covertly, but unfortunately, Ivan Horne never responded to her, leading her to give up.
For so many years, Ivan Horne had been polite to her, and outsiders assumed they might become a couple, but Grace Chandler knew Ivan Horne treated her differently than other reporters due to her professional conduct. Her initial approach to him was for her work.
According to Ivan Horne, she had used him in many ways.
Ivan Horne allowed her to use him for many years, enabling her work not just to be stable but granting her a certain position within her unit, something unimaginable for many.
Grace Chandler thought no one could touch Ivan Horne's heart. Now she knows she simply couldn't touch his heart.
Despite telling friends she was putting down her feelings for Ivan Horne, watching how he treated Lia made Grace Chandler involuntarily feel bitter, sour, and even gave rise to deep jealousy.
"Mr. Horne, it really is you. I thought I was mistaken." Grace Chandler suppressed her bitterness fiercely, even pinching herself secretly to wake up, then walked calmly to Ivan Horne and Lia, greeting Ivan as if everything was normal.
"Reporter Chandler."
Ivan Horne remained composed.
Grace Chandler glanced at Lia standing beside Ivan Horne, scrutinizing her with critical eyes, and smilingly asked Ivan, "Mr. Horne, who is she?"
Though she smiled, Lia knew her smile was fake, and her critical eyes along with uncontrollable jealousy made Lia realize this woman was one of Ivan Horne's admirers.
