Chapter 739 - 30: The World Destroyer
Chapter 739 - 30: The World Destroyer
"You might meet some ’friends.’
Her gaze intentionally swept over certain directions deep within the library, where some powerful presences seemed to flash by.
Even...Yun You could detect a hint of the "Tower Master’s" presence.
Thinking back now, those Tower Masters should also be among the deities under Deng’s command, right?
"And most importantly, you might just get to spend some quality time with your dear mom, nurturing the bond between us."
She gave Yun You a wink, her smile clearly filled with amusement.
"It’s such a rare parent-child time, wouldn’t it be a pity to miss it?"
However, this seemingly considerate...even slightly affectionate reassurance and beautiful blueprint from Deng did not bring Yun You any comfort.
"No."
Yun You’s voice remained resolute, softly saying, "I must go back."
"Tsk, stubborn little kid."
Deng’s smile faded a bit, shaking her head helplessly, she said, "Your stubbornness is a carbon copy of your dear father’s, always so persistent, so self-centered."
"Alright, alright, I knew just talking wouldn’t work."
She raised her hand, casually wiping the air as if erasing mist from glass.
Instantly, a clear "window" appeared out of thin air in front of Yun You.
What the window displayed wasn’t the familiar scene of Nest City No. 3, but rather...an exceedingly unfamiliar, even slightly eerie image.
However, this eeriness didn’t come from the harmony of some ecological paradise, but from the overwhelming, all-consuming—war...
The window’s images were divided into several areas, each like a slice of hell.
On the ground, where once stood the Nest City, now looked like a steel skeleton gnawed by a giant beast. Massive war machines rumbled through the ruins of the city, each step causing tremors like an earthquake... dense energy beams darting through broken walls and ruins like a torrential rain, flames consuming twisted metal and building remnants, while thick smoke obscured the sky.
On the shattered streets, soldiers in different types of armor were locked in frenzied firefights, the roar of weapons mingling with the screams of the dying, corpses piled like mountains, left uncollected as artillery fire plowed through again and again.
What made Yun You even more uneasy was seeing figures clad in the signature black robes of the Death God Organization, weaving through the battlefield ruins. Yet they weren’t combating the enemies, but rather, like vultures on a great prairie, extracting power from the severely wounded and dying Death Gods with bizarre rituals.
In the sky, somehow, burning steel graveyards had already formed, battleships like asteroids fiercely engaging above lead-gray clouds, thick energy cannon beams tearing through the sky, exploding fireballs rising one after another.
Within the dense anti-aircraft fire web, Yun You even saw a familiar figure—Chen Zaikun.
He donned a tattered dark gray combat armor, surrounded by terrifying white flames, charging through the battleships like a war god, warping space wherever he went, tearing Death God Organization battleships like fragile toys.
Fighting alongside him was another young man radiating starlight, manipulating a vast gravity field with each gesture.
But even so, the two never gained the upper hand, for the power of the Death God’s Curse seemed inexhaustible; for every strong one fallen in battle, two more rose to take their place.
In fact, war wasn’t confined to Earth alone; even the extraterrestrial colonies were affected.
The luxurious ecological domes were shattered, and the colonists, simply outfitted but fearless, relied on broken shelters and makeshift fortifications to resist the well-equipped Death God airborne forces.
In the images stood a giant burrowing beast controlled by the Death God Organization, using terrifying acid and drills to destroy the colony’s underground water source core facilities, causing dramatic explosions and subsidence, countless civilians fleeing in despair and being consumed.
Chaos, slaughter, destruction.
This was the world Deng showcased, a view on a macro scale.
Soon, the images shifted again.
In the ruins, a mother held her baby’s corpse, silently wailing amidst the burning wreckage; an elderly person curled up in a collapsed corner, despairingly watching Death God Organization soldiers seize the last bit of food; squads of forcibly conscripted civilians, driven like livestock, marched toward the grinder-like frontline...
The once bustling market, now only broken walls and trampled corpses scattered around.
The people had no means to live.
These four words were no longer enough to describe the horrific reality of the world.
"What...what exactly happened here?"
Yun You froze.
Although the conflict between the Death God Organization and the Equality Association had shown signs three years ago, she never imagined the two would fight to this extent. This far surpasses the intensity of past corporate wars.
Faced with Yun You’s somewhat bewildered little face, the laziness and previous warmth disappeared completely from Deng’s face. She still leaned back on the recliner, but her gaze became incredibly sharp.
She even lightly clapped her hands, her lips curved into a malicious arc.
"Wasn’t that wonderful?"
Deng’s voice carried a kind of pleasure akin to appreciating a piece of art.
"This is reality, my dear daughter."
She raised her hand, pointing at the window view that depicted the extreme carnage.
"About a year ago, the Death God Organization completely tore away their hypocritical façade, with Yun Tiankui’s foolish help, started the plunder of Sequence Power. All Apprentice Death Gods who didn’t pledge loyalty to the organization became their ’prey’.
"Your senior brother is interesting, though, with a mission to save, gathered a bunch of unyielding remnants and cornered civilians, dreaming of fighting against insurmountable odds."
"As for ordinary people?"
Deng sneered.
"They are merely the most insignificant fuel and backdrop in this feast of greed."
Speaking, she abruptly changed her tone, casually saying, "But no matter how your senior brother struggles, no matter how those civilians and remaining Death Gods resist, no one can really stop Yun Tiankui."
"That guy’s strength..."
Deng’s gaze became somewhat deep, as if penetrating layers of space to glimpse at the eternal sleeper deep within Supreme Heaven.
"Before he fell into chaos, he had already reached a fearsome level even I couldn’t fathom. Now, he’s stronger than ever."
Deng’s finger tapped on the window, bringing the scene rapidly closer to a fierce battlefield core, where a high-level member of the Death God Organization, wearing a luxurious black robe, with energy far stronger than assassin Cang Feng, was being pushed to the brink by Chen Zaikun and Zhu Xing’s joint attack, seeming about to be completely crushed by their power.
But, in that critical moment...
A pure, mysterious black light descended from the void without warning, ignoring spatial distance, enveloping that high-level member.
"Boom—!"
The joint attack of Chen Zaikun and Zhu Xing, enough to destroy stars, collided with this thin layer of mysterious light like a mud cow into the sea, without even a ripple!
Instead, under the mysterious light’s cover, that high-level member’s energy skyrocketed instantly, a counterstrike releasing a terrifying will-infused black shockwave that swept out, sending the unprepared Chen Zaikun and Zhu Xing flying.
Blood spewed from their mouths, their energies instantly withered.
"Did you see that?"
Deng calmly said: "Your cheap father doesn’t need to enter the fray personally, just the power leaked from his body, if guided by those hyenas in the Death God Organization with a specific ritual, even borrowing an ounce, is enough to let their high-level members instantly possess immense strength, allowing them to effortlessly crush everything."
Speaking, she turned her head, looking at Yun You.
"What can you achieve by rushing back now? By relying on the power you’ve just gained upon reaching Tier Seven, to confront those monsters reinforced by Yun Tiankui’s power? To challenge that omnipresent Monarch’s might like cosmic background radiation?"
"At most, you’ll be like a slightly stronger ant, struggling for a few more seconds before the storm arrives, saving a few more insignificant ants, allowing this dying civilization to endure just a little longer."
Suddenly, Deng’s tone carried a trace of sentiment.
"Ironically, isn’t it?"
She shook her head gently, her silver-gray hair slightly swaying.
"Yun Tiankui is clearly the person who cares the most about civilians, the most obsessive about the ideal of equality in this world. He did not hesitate to become a butcher for his ridiculous ideal, cleansing us Extraordinary and establishing that brief Utopia."
"But now?"
"With his unclear mind, he has become the person most likely to destroy entire human civilization after the First Generation King."
"A person who raised a butcher’s knife to protect, ultimately becoming the source of destruction; this script, isn’t it even more ironic than the First Generation King’s three-minute glorious destruction?"
