Chapter 295: Maxim Sinclair Deliberately Conceals Summer Lowell’s Parentage
Chapter 295: Maxim Sinclair Deliberately Conceals Summer Lowell’s Parentage
Her tone was so certain that it made Maxim Sinclair quite unhappy.
"I’ve been annoyed with Justin Huxley for a long time now," Maxim revealed his dislike without any cover.
Summer Lowell didn’t want to discuss Justin Huxley with him, so she reiterated the previous topic: "You still haven’t answered me. Can you help me find out about my birth parents?"
"I looked into it a long time ago," Maxim Sinclair remained silent for a moment, considering whether to tell Summer the truth or not. "I found nothing. When you were adopted, the information from the orphanage was that you were an orphan."
The light in Summer Lowell’s eyes dimmed again: "Are you sure this is true?"
She still seemed to hold onto hope.
Maxim Sinclair really couldn’t bear to tell her that she was abandoned because that couple was too superstitious, believing some nonsense that Summer was born to bring them misfortune.
And so they abandoned Summer.
The truth, if revealed, would undoubtedly make Summer sad.
Seeing her just starting to regain some of her former vitality, Maxim Sinclair couldn’t bear to let her fall back into self-doubt over her parentage.
"I’ve checked more than three times, and the people I sent out, you know, are definitely capable. As for Justin Huxley, it’s best not to trust his words,"
While answering her, Maxim Sinclair secretly calculated that he should keep an eye on Justin Huxley so that he wouldn’t get the chance to deceive Summer.
"Summer, do you want to know so badly about your origins? They have been absent from your life for so many years, there’s no need to hold onto this obsession."
Maxim Sinclair held her hand, "You’ve grown up to be excellent, with a sound personality, why not let go of the past and face the future?"
"I’ve already said it’s an obsession," Summer Lowell shook her head with a bitter smile, "I just want to know my origins. I’ve heard many rumors about them, mostly superstitious or antiquated thinking. But in my heart, I still want to meet them to get an answer."
"But with your current status and my involvement, you can’t possibly get the real answer," Maxim Sinclair shook his head in disapproval, "People are opportunistic. Seeing you so outstanding now, are you sure you’ll get their honest words?"
Summer looked up at him: "You know who my birth parents are, don’t you? And you know the real reason I left them, you even know what kind of people they are, otherwise, you wouldn’t say such things."
So perceptive.
The more perceptive a person, the more easily they get hurt in relationships.
He dared not let Summer meet her birth parents through Justin Huxley.
"I just heard some rumors. Back in the day, many Chinese immigrated abroad, and due to the underdeveloped technology of that era, many records were easily lost, so your background is hard to trace."
Maxim Sinclair was lying.
When he first investigated Summer’s background, it took no effort to find out who her birth parents were.
Saying this now was to consider Summer’s feelings.
No one wants to know that they were the one abandoned at birth.
The brief conversation that night seemed to give Summer some strength.
When she saw the email again, her mood had calmed significantly.
Justin Huxley lost the business battle so miserably, and according to Tina Huxley, Justin has begun to suspect that he was hurt by a scheme set by her and Maxim Sinclair.
He already thinks she’s harming him, so how could he possibly help her investigate her background with good intentions?
There’s definitely something tricky going on.
On the other side, Justin Huxley, having sent the email with no response, gradually lost patience.
In one contrived encounter, he stopped Vivian Sullivan who was passing by on some errand.
Vivian Sullivan, who had been keeping in touch with Summer, felt a sense of caution rising within upon seeing Justin Huxley: "Senior Huxley, what a coincidence to see you here."
"Yes, just happened to pass by. What are you busy with?"
"I’m just passing by too," Vivian turned her head to look behind, secretly wondering why Charles Jenson hadn’t caught up yet, "Haven’t seen you in a while, Senior Huxley, what have you been busy with lately?"
"Oh, just got messed up by Maxim Sinclair. Planning to pack up and get away abroad for a while."
Knowing some inside information, Vivian Sullivan felt awkward and didn’t know how to respond.
"By the way, have you been in touch with Summer lately?"
Justin Huxley brought up the real purpose of finding Vivian today, "I have something important to tell her, but Maxim Sinclair is watching her too closely, I can’t get in touch with her."
"It seems she’s not feeling well lately and is resting in the villa, I can’t reach her either."
Vivian Sullivan intentionally told a lie with open eyes.
Both sides were well aware of the game being played.
After going back and forth, when Vivian finally lost her patience and was about to leave, Justin Huxley finally revealed some weighty news: "If you can get in touch with Summer, could you pass a message for me? I’ve recently heard rumors related to her birth parents, but the truth is still under investigation, and I need her to help confirm."
Vivian Sullivan agreed and half an hour later drove to Varden Villa to discuss the matter with Summer Lowell in detail.
Already troubled by the email’s content, Summer’s mood worsened after hearing Vivian Sullivan’s words.
"Justin Huxley really doesn’t know when to stop, he managed to find you too."
Vivian Sullivan nodded in strong agreement: "Didn’t he say it’s all over? Why do I feel he’s still not giving up? He must be scheming to use you again for something against Maxim Sinclair. You can’t get involved in this again."
"I don’t want to get involved, but it’s clear Justin Huxley isn’t willing to let me go," Summer shook her head with a bitter smile, "How did I ever think he was a good person? Maybe he was good in his youth, but later on, he changed because of the twisted relationships in his family."
"That’s why they say there’s much drama in wealthy families," Vivian said, patting her hand, "You really have to think it through about you and Maxim Sinclair. I’ve heard quite a bit of gossip about the Sinclair Family, and it’s even more like a den of tigers and wolves than the Huxley Family."
"It’s alright, I know what I’m doing. Anyway, it’s just a contractual relationship between Maxim and me. When the agreement expires, I’ll be free again."
But.
It takes ten years!
...
Failing to make headway with Vivian Sullivan, Justin Huxley chose another plan.
Kryllia.
A couple strolling in the garden was suddenly stopped.
Their hands tightly clasped, the couple looked warily at the two men in black blocking their path: "Who are you?"
"Mr. Collins, Mrs. Collins, our boss wants to see you both."
"Who is your boss? We don’t know any Mr. or Mrs. Collins, have you got the wrong people?"
