Chapter 312 - 44: Frenzied Combat
Chapter 312 - 44: Frenzied Combat
Gaoqiu and Lu Shiqi’s muscles tensed.
As Third Limit Fighters, although they couldn’t be said to be severely wounded, they were no longer in peak condition.
Facing an expert of the same Limit who was armed and at ease, they weren’t confident they could win, even if they fought together.
As for the audience members on the outskirts of the fighting arena, they were slowly backing away from the central area, afraid of provoking the mysterious Fighter who had just broken in.
This had nothing to do with them, no matter how you looked at it. Judging by his presence, the newcomer was also a Third Limit Fighter. If the three of them started fighting, any bystanders caught in the crossfire wouldn’t even have a chance to react.
Gong Zhanyi was also mixed in with the crowd. Shielded by the Steward and two guards, he slowly retreated toward the entrance. He stared at Wei Wusheng’s back. ’If the Gongshi arrest team weren’t forbidden from entering the fighting arena, they could be apprehending him right now. But it’s not like there won’t be a chance. As long as the doors open...’
Wei Wusheng tilted his head and said, "Gong Zhanyi, I know you’re here. And I know you’re looking for me."
Gong Zhanyi’s expression shifted slightly. He stopped retreating and instead looked forward, asking in a low voice, "Wei Wusheng, did you take it?"
Wei Wusheng said, "If you’re talking about the thing Tianxiong Jianyi gave me, then yes, I took it. You want it back? I’m afraid you’ll never get the chance."
Gong Zhanyi’s fingers trembled slightly, but he maintained a calm facade. "What are you planning to do? Kill me here?"
"Not just you. Everyone here."
Wei Wusheng said it as if it were the most casual thing in the world, causing the expressions of all the Fighters present to change.
After tossing out that line, he turned his head back to look at Gaoqiu and Lu Shiqi.
"You have five minutes to prepare. In five minutes, I will attack. Either you kill me, or I kill you."
Gaoqiu and Lu Shiqi’s expressions turned grim. They didn’t ask him why he was doing this.
Every Fighter has their own pursuit. Sometimes, in their quest for a higher level, or simply for the sake of their own ideals, they would do things that ordinary people found incomprehensible and seemingly insane.
Gaoqiu lowered his head and sniffed the air, then took a few steps and scooped a bloody piece of flesh out of the water, swallowing it.
It was his own flesh, including bone fragments. He picked it all up, piece by piece, chewed it, and swallowed it down. As he ate, the wounds on his body began to writhe and close, and his mental state gradually recovered along with them.
Lu Shiqi reached into his own abdomen, rummaged around, and pulled out his small intestine.
This was an Implant intestine. He had previously consumed a type of indigestible silk fiber. When combined with the intestine, it created a whip-like resilience, allowing it to be used as a weapon in critical moments. However, it had been severed in half by Gaoqiu’s sharp nails earlier, so it was now two Intestinal Whips, each about three meters long.
Wei Wusheng didn’t interfere. He had said he’d give them five minutes, and he would not make a move during that time.
Lu Shiqi then licked his palm and wiped it over his wound. Through an Implanted gland under his gills, he could secrete a bio-gel in his saliva that accelerated the repair of his damaged tissues. Although not as fast as a brain-stimulated repair, it didn’t consume extra stamina or Energy.
While they were preparing, the other Fighters in the arena wore uncertain expressions. They had wanted to retreat further and stay out of it, but they obviously couldn’t take Wei Wusheng’s words as a joke.
But as for charging in to fight this man now, they knew their own limitations. Against a Third Limit Fighter, they had no chance of winning, even with performance enhancers.
So, they could only wait. Wait for Wei Wusheng to fight the other two, and then look for an opportunity.
Their idea was sound, but after just over a minute, something seemed to affect them. The eyes of most people present began to turn bloodshot, their breathing grew ragged, and they were filled with a frantic desire to destroy everything in sight.
Chen Chuan and his three companions were currently standing in their own circle, separate from the others. But he also noticed the strange condition now appearing in Tan Zhi and the other two.
The three of them also realized something was wrong and backed away from each other. However, the feeling of frenzy grew stronger, and an uncontrollable urge to lash out swelled within them, causing their faces to flush red involuntarily.
Chen Chuan glanced at his Second Self. It was showing signs of phasing, a clear indication that something unusual was assailing them.
In the cruise ship’s main cabin, Senior Brother Sun was on a call with a high-level company executive. The latter said gravely, "The company has been informed of the situation. Director Sun, you are the person in charge on-site. Do you have any recommendations?"
Senior Brother Sun said, "The ’Multi-Eyed’ project must be kept secret. If we want to lead other companies in the next era, we must make significant progress on these projects."
"Then how do you plan to cover up the situation on-site? Let me remind you, even if you eliminate everyone and pin it on Wei Wusheng, the company’s secrets will still be leaked in the post-mortem investigation."
Senior Brother Sun said, "I don’t intend to do that. It would cause severe damage to the company’s reputation. Fortunately, there’s a genetically modified Red Sea Worm on-site. The manic toxin it secretes is similar to the effect of the ’Multi-Eyed’ Domain. It was originally prepared as part of the entertainment. We can use that as an explanation afterward."
"I’ve already ordered the security team to be injected with a calming agent. But since it’s an experimental drug, it will take five to ten minutes to take effect. I will have them go in to rescue the guests and save as many people as possible."
"Why not send the ship’s security consultants in to resolve this? I imagine the Multi-Eyed Domain won’t affect Third Limit Fighters, at least not for a short while."
Senior Brother Sun replied, "There are still some unidentified individuals on the cruise ship. I’m not sure if this was premeditated. I must ensure the safety of the other passengers."
"Director Sun, I have recorded your response. I will submit it to the company’s board of directors. I hope you can handle this matter and minimize the impact."
Senior Brother Sun said, "I will. Please inform the company on my behalf that I am the one responsible for this incident. It was my failure to take proper precautions. I will personally bear all the consequences; it has nothing to do with any other company employees."
"Director Sun, I will relay your message exactly as you’ve stated."
After ending the call, Senior Brother Sun gave his orders. "Have the entire security team, once injected with the agent, proceed immediately to the fighting deck. Have the two security consultants make an announcement. Inform all passengers that the company is hunting for intruders who have infiltrated the ship. Tell them to remain in their cabins for the time being and not to go out, or they will be responsible for the consequences."
"Yes, sir!"
Back in the fighting arena, another minute passed. An atmosphere of frenzy spread among all the Fighters. Many stared at each other with bloodshot eyes, looking as if they were about to lose control of their emotions.
A moment later, a wild roar erupted near the doors. Someone finally snapped and attacked the person next to them. It was like a spark landing in a barrel of dynamite, setting the entire arena ablaze with a BOOM. Everyone began roaring and attacking those around them.
In the corner where Chen Chuan and his group stood, Pan Xiaode’s eyes turned crimson, and he suddenly charged at Chen Chuan. Watching him approach, Chen Chuan said, "Pan, you want to spar already?"
He raised a hand and deflected the charge. The immense force immediately threw Pan Xiaode off balance. Then, with a casual chop, he struck the side of his neck, and Pan Xiaode instantly passed out.
He then took a half-step back, evading Qi Huixin’s kick. With incredible speed, his own foot shot up and struck her neck as well. She collapsed without a sound.
He turned to look at Tan Zhi and found that, before completely losing control, Tan Zhi had already punched himself and was now sprawled on the ground.
Surprised, he realized it was actually a good choice. ’He’s quick-witted. The berserk crowd won’t be interested in someone who’s already down. Plus, punching yourself means you control the force, which is better than taking a hit from someone else.’
Chen Chuan turned his head to look at the crowd brawling in chaos. They had completely lost their minds. He glanced up at the fighting stage, thought for a moment, and then started walking toward the people in the back.
On the stage, Wei Wusheng looked up. "Five minutes are up."
The instant he spoke, he shot forward, charging at the closer Gaoqiu and throwing a simple punch.
Seeing him approach, Gaoqiu had intended to parry first to create an opening for Lu Shiqi behind him. He was confident Lu Shiqi would understand his intention.
However, as Wei Wusheng’s fist came at him, he suddenly felt an intense sense of danger. He instantly realized he probably couldn’t block it and immediately switched to evasion.
Lu Shiqi knew he couldn’t let Gaoqiu face him alone. He stepped forward, flicked the Intestinal Whip in his hand, and lashed it toward Wei Wusheng. The man’s figure stopped abruptly. He caught the whip with a backhand grip and wrapped it around his hand twice.
As Wei Wusheng made this move, Gaoqiu saw an opportunity. His retreating form shot forward as if shoved from behind, and he stabbed a palm-strike toward Wei Wusheng’s spine.
Wei Wusheng merely tilted his body slightly, allowing the palm to strike him. But the hand-blade that had just effortlessly torn open Lu Shiqi’s chest only penetrated a few inches before it was clamped tight by thick muscle, unable to break free. Gaoqiu’s expression changed. "Horizontal Training Force?"
Then he saw Wei Wusheng spin violently. The powerful force flung his entire body forward. Gaoqiu immediately contracted his abdomen to adjust his posture, curling his toes like a hawk, ready to kick out at any moment.
But just then, a large hand reached out, brutally broke through his one-handed parry, and grabbed his face. With a heavy downward press—SLAM!—Gaoqiu was slammed into the ground, and the entire stage shuddered.
CRACK! Just as Wei Wusheng made his move, the Intestinal Whip wrapped around his other hand was yanked, instantly interrupting his follow-up attack. At the same time, the other Intestinal Whip struck his body. Driven by Power, the clothes and flesh on his shoulder and back burst open, but it was only superficial damage.
Wei Wusheng looked up and yanked the Intestinal Whip in his hand. Lu Shiqi instantly let out some slack, and using the momentum, he swung his body to the side. With a flick of his other hand, the whip instantly formed several loops around Wei Wusheng. All he had to do next was pull with all his Power, and he could bind him.
But at that moment, a hammer was suddenly thrown, flying straight at his head. He was forced to dodge. The loss of an arm made him unstable, and he faltered for an instant as he turned. The next thing he saw was a fist enlarging before his eyes.
He barely avoided a direct hit, but it still struck his shoulder. With the sound of splintering bone, his body was sent flying sideways. It bounced several times on the ground and skidded all the way to the edge of the arena, stopping only when it slammed into the wall with a THUD. He didn’t get up again, clearly having lost the ability to fight.
Wei Wusheng straightened up and said, "I told you. Only one person is walking out of here today."
He walked over and bent down to grab the hammer’s handle. Just as he was about to stand, he suddenly sensed something. With a SNAP, he caught a small stone firmly in his hand. He turned to look and saw a figure holding a blade, walking slowly toward him.
